Frederi G. Viens is a full professor in the Department of Statistics at Rice University. He pursues a long-standing personal research agenda in probability theory, stochastic processes, mathematical statistics, and applied probability for insurance mathematics and quantitative finance. Over the past 15 years, he has developed a robust applied statistics research program. Using the power of computational Bayesian statistics, he collaborates on several significant projects in climate science, agricultural economics, hydrology, development economics, nuclear physics, human health management, and agronomy.
.In the past, Viens has worked on the Lake Chad project with the help of interested undergraduate research assistants who chose to volunteer for the experience. He expects more undergraduates to show interest, and he will employ such US undergraduate students who are volunteering in the proposed project as needed.
Prof Ernst is a Chair (and Full Professor) in Statistics and a Royal Society Wolfson Fellow at Imperial College London's Department of Mathematics. He was previously a full Professor (2022-2023) at Rice University's Department of Statistics.
Until recently, Prof. Udo Herbert was the Dean of the Postgraduate School at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Nigeria accountable for promoting transformative research activities in various Colleges, including the College of Animal Science and Animal Production, College of Crop and Soil Sciences as well as the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Management. He is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor *Academic) at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Nigeria overseeing all research activities at the University. Prof. Herbert is an Animal Science Professor interested in data-driven research in animal husbandry.
Prof. Dennis Ikpe, Associate Professor of Statistics at Michigan State University, East Lansing,Michigan, USA, and Research Associate, African Institute of Mathematical Science, Cape Town, South Africa.
Dr. Ikpe is a mathematical statistician. He uses probability to make strong statistical statements about models for real-world questions. Application areas include agricultural economics, biology, climate science, and other areas, from finance to insurance. Dr. Ikpe worked with his PhD students on probabilistic forecasting of crop yields via Quantile Random Forest and Kernel Density estimation.
